Vans and the places they were documents surviving 70’s and 80’s era conversion vans parked on streets throughout the Bay Area and Southern California. The project, led by Joe Stevens, began in 1996 and currently consists of hundreds of images shot on 120 film and examines the dialogue which exists between a van’s design aesthetic and that of its surrounding environment.
As these types of vans are becoming a dying breed, Joe states, “consequently the goal of the project is to one day shoot the last remaining van on the final frame of photographic film in existence. Then the project will be finished.”

Last summer I found myself walking around the MOMA Design store. Their book selection in particular is amazing. I picked up Miranda July’s “Learning to Love you More” on a whim, not realizing that she was of the same creative mind behind “Me You and Everyone We Know”. I also then began reading her book “No One Belongs Here More than you” which narrates 16 private and strangely beautiful short stories.
Her most recent endeavor is a very Cindy Sherman esque photographic series where she poses as extras from classic films for Vice Magazine.
Check out the photos here.

If you’re ever feeling cynical or sad at heart, a quick look at the photography of Max Wanger might be the thing to lift your spirits. I’m loving the above portraits of the couple at the zoo in particular.
See more of his work here.

Never before have I been so enamored with a U.S. President. I’m not going to be able to say anything that hasn’t already been stated about Barack Obama. I stumbled upon the Official White House Photostream on Flickr and enjoyed getting a glimpse at the entrancing first family in their current habitat.

Only the best things can be said about photographer William Gentle and his website Backyard Bill. The site is described as “stylish folks in their own clothes,” and features striking portraiture of good looking people with excellent personal style.
